Picture: TP Unit

TP Unit

Alright, I took a picture with a crappy phone camera.
That's tomatoes growing; one in each roll.

I have made an unsettling discovery; tomatoes are not the only things living in my unit; mold seems to thrive between the rolls. Uh-oh :(

Edit;
I terminated five of the weakest tomato plants thus clearing some space between the rolls. Perhaps some air circulation will help prevent further mold growth.

Screw the "special" tomatoes, let's have variety
Postad den 15 Mar 2010 vid 19:11

I couldn't find the other kind of tomatoes so screw 'em. Instead I bought carrots (Daucus carota L.) and peas (Pisum sativum var. macrocarpon), the kind where you eat the pod ("sugar peas"?).

Both of my TP roll units are in full use now, I wish I had space for more, I wanna expand my garden with strawberries and other delicious things.

I'll take a look at doing a hydroponic system (Window Farms), as long as it's not too expensive or loud (thinking of the pump), thanks for the tip TQ ;)

And then came the chili

I have witnessed the first signs of life in the chili rolls!
That is all.

Growathon
Postad den 8 Mar 2010 vid 12:04

It's amazing how fast the plants grow.
Almost all of the tomatoes have emerged now and I have ranked them with strips of paper.

While I was planting the seeds I accidentally dropped one seed into the rolls without knowing where it went. It has now revealed itself; one roll has two seedlings.

Every morning I see progress, it's so much fun :)

There be life

The first tomatoes have sprouted! I looked down upon the dirt filled toilet paper rolls and saw something; "what's that" I thought, "something foreign in my toilet pap.. OMG they're growing already!". I was pleasantly surprised to see the ever so tiny, pale green leaves of the tomato plants. I then glanced at the TP rolls containing chili seed; "nothing yet.. I'm sure it wont take long before they as well sprout." I thought as I sprayed the soil with water...

As a side note: I failed to acquire the special/different tomatoes; ICA Maxi didn't have any in store yesterday. I shall try again later.
I've yet to recover my camera, pictures to come at a later date.

Level up!

Wohoo! Jag fick orange bälte i Judo i dag! (eller ja, tekniskt sett igår).
Vi hade fyra timmars Judo pass idag (med lunch i mitten), känner det i kroppen, vill sova nu, gonatt.

STOP! It's planting time!

Long time no see!
Spring is here! ..kinda almost. It's time to plant some seeds but first a little update (lazy me didn't post when things went down last autumn/winter).

Alright, so my chili got owned by spider mites or whatever they're called, they're so small I couldn't even see them and I foolishly mistook the webs for spider webs. I got a total of one fruit from my chili plants, Stefan got the honor of using it in his cooking. I tasted the chili and it wasn't very strong, it tasted like normal peppers (paprika).

The mystery plant whithered and died, even though I continued taking care of it. I assume it needed to grow outdoors.

Well it's a new year now and I've just finished filling 60 or so toilet paper rolls with soil and placed one seed in each. 20 chili, same kind as before and the rest got impregnated with cherry tomatoes, also the same as last year. The plan is to pick the strongest ones and discard the rest. I still got space for more, I wanna do another sort of tomatoes and them some other plant altogether.

Pictures to come when I get my camera back.
This is gonna be so much fun! Woooooooooh! :D

NASA bombing the moon
Postad den 8 Oct 2009 vid 20:30

NASA is going to bomb the moon tomorrow, you can watch it online streaming on their website http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html. The show starts at 15 minutes past noon (12:15) Stockholm time, 9th oct (or 6:15 am EDT).

There will be one hour or so of commentary/status reports before the actual impact which will occur around 13:30 Stockholm time (7:30 am EDT).

The reason of the bombing is to measure the water to dirt ratio; how much water there is on the moon. The impact will create a plume of debris which is expected to reach up to 10 km, which, I assume, will then be analyzed.

I will be watching :)

Turbo chili
Postad den 6 Oct 2009 vid 15:01

Wow, the chili is growing really fast. Every day or two the chili fruits get visible larger and not only that, several smaller chili fruits have started to grow.

Chili

It's fun seeing progress that fast.
The plant mites are all but eradicated, however I've removed several worm like creatures today, hopefully all of them.
